"HARDWORK IS GOOD, SMART WORK IS BETTER, WORKING FOR MONEY ALONE WILL NOT MAKE YOU HAPPY"- NNEAMAKA NWADEI

Hello darlings!  It's been a while here,  forgive us for being absent without notice!Trust you missed us😄😄😄

Guess what? We had an interview with a Compere/Event host... Meet Nneamaka Nwadei, a graduate of Dramatic Arts from  Obafemi Awolowo University, an excellent compere, an actress, a singer as well as a media enthusiast. Join us on this journey with NNEAMAKA!

LODF: Hello Ma'am, we're glad to have you on our platform. Can you tell us more about you?
NNEAMAKA: Thank you. My name is Nneamaka Sharon Nwadei. I'm the first of four girls. I'm from Ibusa in Delta state. I am a Christian. I just recently concluded my study at the department of dramatic Arts, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife Osun state. I'm a compere, a media enthusiast, amongst other things. I'm an ambivert: not an introvert or an extrovert, just right in the middle. I use my left- which is one of the reasons why I'm so intelligent (lol)
LODF: Lol! What was growing up like for you?
NNEAMAKA: Growing up was interesting, we had a big compound with lots of animals, so we used to feed them. We also had many of our age mates around and so we enjoyed their company. Although there were days when my mum would  lock my sister and I in the house and go out. Those days were unforgettable.
LODF:  What do you enjoy doing at your leisure?
NNEAMAKA: I like to rest, see a movie, read a book, just do something that relaxes me.

LODF: What made you study dramatic arts for your undergraduate studies?
NNEAMAKA: I have always been the active child, up and about the whole place, in secondary school I was a science student who represented the school in art related competitions and presentations. Thankfully I had a teacher who became my school father/mentor and helped me to find my path and stay on it before it got too late; I changed from sciences to arts and I just continued that way to the university. Dramatic Arts is all encompassing, it makes you a flexible person.

LODF: Any plan for your acting career?
NNEAMAKA: Yes, but for now the plan is to get depth, add value to myself as a person before sharing my gift with the world. As an actor, you give yourself everyday, you can't afford to be shallow or else you'll fizzle out of relevance. The goal is to be timeless, global.

LODF: Awesome! What inspired you to become a Compere/Event host?
NNEAMAKA: My being a compere started in church. I moderated services in the youth arm of our parent church for years before getting admitted into university. I have always loved running things smoothly and talking to people, so seeing an event or program from start to finish and having everyone involved made me continue in school.

LODF:How has the journey been so far?
NNEAMAKA:I would say that it has been great, to the glory of God. When I started out it wasn't easy, being a new face and having no precedents. But I learnt to talk to people and that opened doors for me. These people helped me to connect with people who were the compere lords of campus to teach me, show me the ropes, and  then I added my own personal spice- you must be different or you'll be like everyone else and that does not sell your market.

LODF: How were you able to balance other things with your passion for anchoring events and all when you were in school ?
NNEAMAKA: Balancing is a very serious thing. I didn't learn to prioritize on time, and I didn't learn late either, but if I had learnt earlier than I did I'm sure I'd have been even more productive. A student is first a student before a worker. My department is a tough one and you must give your one hundred percent, but being a worker and going better at my job meant that I got more shows too. There is a price for excellence, and the excellent minded must pay. It meant that I had to organize my schedule and be reasonable- if you have a rehearsal you've not been excused from, you must attend, even if it means missing a show. And then, wherever you are, give it your best so that when you're not there you're not putting yourself in a bad light. At the end of the day, you don't want to live a lopsided life. So balance is necessary. Thankfully I didn't have to miss many programs.

LODF: Any challenge so far? Who/What keeps you going?
NNEAMAKA: There have been challenges, like not being able to take jobs because of clashing lecture or rehearsal schedules, getting jobs and not getting paid, and sometimes, people think being a compere is simple- just to talk. It's not. Then, not everyone understands that some people will evolve, when I started being a compere seriously it affected my relationship with some of my classmates because I wasn't so active in the department anymore. What keeps me going is when I remember that I'm going somewhere, and that everything's a process. The Bible says I should not despise my days of little beginnings. These are the days.

LODF: Do you have mentors you look up to in this aspect?
NNEAMAKA: Oh! Yes, I do. One of such great people is Chigozirim Otefe-Edebi. She is an outstanding compere and she puts me through all the time. Most of the people who groomed me as a compere in OAU have graduated. I also follow the works of several comperes and presenters in this generation who are masters of the art.

LODF: Where do you see yourself few years from now?
NNEAMAKA: I see myself sharing tables with the greats, fulfilling purpose- that's the main reason to live.

LODF: Will you like to share with us your most exciting moment so far?
NNEAMAKA: Honestly every program is different and unique in its way, so there's a special feel after a successful completion of a job. I make it a point of duty to always take something for myself from every moment. That said, I have many exciting moments.

LODF: If you were to go on a tour to a country with your ticket paid for,  what country will that be and why?
NNEAMAKA: United Arab Emirates! Ooh, that country has the best tourist center right now.  For now I only see it on TV, I'd like to experience it first hand.

LODF: What's your favorite quote?
NNEAMAKA: Learn, unlearn, relearn

LODF: Last words for those that are on the path of living their dreams and those that have not started the journey.
NNEAMAKA: At the core of everything is the creator of it all- God, if you take that for granted, you'll be taken for granted soon. Hardwork is good; smart work is better. If you work just for money, you will not be happy. Work for free, get experience, build good relationships with people. Finally, you don't  know it all, pride really goes before a massive fall. Humility will take you far. Thank you.

Thanks so much.
